Solar Technologies
Our main activities involve the development of inexpensive, high efficiency “green” solar cells. We are harnessing the efficiency of microbial photosynthesis and applying it to nanotechnology to generate light-weight, low costs solar cell technologies. The strengths of our technology are:
- Improved geographic and climate tolerance,
- Significantly enhanced efficiency (200%-500%) in solar-to-electricity conversion,
- Customizable, flexible designs enable broad applications beyond traditional solar panels,
- Energy generation 24 hours a day,
- Environmentally friendlier fabrication practices.
Energy Storage Technologies
A second area of pursuit is in energy storage technologies, where we are focused on developing non-toxic voltaic cells and “green” energy storage devices to service ever-growing market demands. The benefits of our approach are:
- Elimination of lead, rare earth metals and other toxic chemicals found in conventional batteries,
- Improved design features (eg., less weight) enables additional uses,
- Extended durability beyond traditional batteries.
Biofermentation Technologies
Many industries use biofermentation to generate products such as chemicals, biofuels, foods, drugs and many others. The most significant contributor to the cost of biofermentation processes is the energy required to fuel biofermentation of products. We are investigating novel applications of our “green” energy technologies to meet the ever-growing needs in manufacturing with the goal of reducing manufacturing costs.
Social and Commercial Aspirations
Bugsy Solar LLC was founded with a specific purpose to change the Energy Paradigm—we want to bring affordable energy to everyone. As such, Bugsy is self-funded and does not have traditional investors and shareholder interests to abide by, which enables Bugsy to strategically interact with industry leaders in a manner that does not limit the concomitant social impact mission of the company at the same time as it pursues its commercial aspirations.
